Spring is here in Seattle and today’s Equinox is officially the first day of spring! Ancient Daoist regarded the transition from winter to spring as an important time of renewal, not just in nature but also in our bodies.
The element associated with spring is the wood element, which is known for its strength and flexibility. The wood element represents growth, and like the new plants pushing through the earth, this energy can be forceful. This is why the the wood element has a reputation for being able to get things done.
In humans, this energy can be expressed as frustration and anger when unbalanced, but when channeled properly with our original nature, it is pure love and compassion. The rising liver-y anger energy can be expressed in a healthy way towards transformation and change.
I found a great way to balance the wood energy through Tog Chöd Wisdom Sword practice. We all need a way to express and transform the anger and stress in our lives in a healthy way–to not purge all over others, or worse, hold it inside of us until it creates an illness. This Sword practice is a powerful, and more importantly, fun way to clear out our liver/gallbladder channels so we have more space to handle life with more ease and grace.
Today, I’m off to Utah for the 2nd module of the MQP Certification–if you’ve taken MQP-1 training with me before, I’m starting regular MQP classes locally/online–contact me if you want a refresher. If you are interested in the training, please come for the 1st introductory class.
Let’s celebrate the Spring Equinox together by embracing the wood element and it’s values!
